Bringing the Blessed Sacrament to our hospital bound Catholic Community brings them peace, courage and the joy of God's presence as they cope with illness. We perform both a spiritual work of mercy in comforting the afflicted and a corporal work of mercy in visiting the sick. This ministry serves both the Merritt and Providence pavilions of Summit Hospital in Oakland. Under Chaplain Michael Cobbina, we are trained and make "rounds" on days of our choice. Ministers usually visit the Hospital two or three times a month. Needs are greater on certain days, but we are free to choose when it is most convenient. The time we come is also flexible. A "round" generally takes about two hours.
