What is a St. Theresa Parish CYO Coach?

    Responsibilities
  • conduct a preseason  parent meeting (the meeting should start with a prayer just as all games do)
  • conduct 1-2 practices per week
  • return roster to A.D. in a timely fashion
  • coach in a Christian manner (you have a huge impact on the kids you coach)
  • ensure a safe environment for your players
  • ensure adequate supervision at all times
  • set the example for the kids and the parents

    Duties
  • attend yearly certification workshop
  • adhere to the C.Y.O. code of conduct (prayer, sportsmanship, all play, no running up scores, keeping
    winning and losing in perspective, fun)
  • be knowledgeable of and follow all C.Y.O. rules
  • be knowledgeable of and follow St. Theresa Athletic Dept. Mission Statement and Guidelines
  • ensure there are at least two certified adults present at all times and for girls teams that at least one
    of the adults present is a certified female adult
  • respect the official’s judgment (even if you don’t agree with it)

    Rewards

  • teaching a skill to a young person
  • seeing the improvement in your players over the course of the season
  • watching your players & their parents enjoy their accomplishments
  • being appreciated by players and their parents
  • free dinner at the end of the year
